If parents want to help children to be independent , I think they should take my steps. First, the most effective way is to let them experience on their own, they are better to be given the opportunity to get some train. Second, the parents should give their children the freedom to make choices for themselves, like, what to wear, what to eat, what job to take. Let the child do whatever things, like, dressing, clean up the room to do some small things can do. Third, parents cultivate children's independence, but also need to cultivate the spirit the child to overcome difficulties.
